Abloh Sets a New Benchmark at the Crossing of Automotive and Fashion Design

Mercedes-Benz Virgil Abloh

Continuing last year`s Project Geländewagen collaboration, in which the iconic G-Class was reimagined as a race car, designer and architect Virgil Abloh returned to write the second chapter in Mercedes-Benz history and create the Mercedes-Maybach electro show car. Virgil Abloh`s Project MAYBACH was created in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Design Director Gorden Wagener. The presentation of the project took place at the Art Basel Miami`s Rubell Museum on December 1 and 2, 2021. And the show-car itself coincided with the 100th anniversary of the brand.

MAYBACH by Virgil Abloh

The creators moved away from exciting blueprints to showcase a new level of luxury to the world. The model of the car is a completely new Maybach that draws on Virgil`s architectural expertise and his unique approach to design.

The only clay-colored vehicle that is both strong and smooth, it boasts an oily leather inside and rooftop rack for added catholicity. The car is absolutely electric, complete with a solar panel under the anterior bonnet of the car.

The first talk about the project was in October. And after the tragic death of the magnificent designer Abloh, the creation of such a large-scale blueprint is especially impressive.
