On July 27, during the NHRA Nationals, Bob Tasca III, who was driving a Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, set a new record. He overcame a quarter-mile for 8.128 seconds of time at 171.97 mph. That’s how the man broke a new record, as last year he drove in 8.27 seconds at 168 mph.
The car was made in cooperation between Cascadia Motion and Watson Engineering, and this is the first prototype of an all-electrical Ford. The car arrived at production last April.
However, this was not Tasca’s first record. In 2007, he drove the car fueled with alcohol in 5.451 minutes and 263 mph. He is now considered the first driver of Ford who broke the three-second barrier.
