Carl Nassib is now officially the NFL’s first openly gay player. The athlete also announced a 100,000 dollars donation to the Trevor Project.
Carl Nassib, who is the player of the Las Vegas Raiders, has recently shared on social media that he is gay. This is the first time in the last 100 years of NFL history when a player has openly announced his belonging to the LGBTQ+ community.
Commenting on this, he added that he was afraid of this moment for 15 years, but now the 28-year-old sportsman is comfortable enough to finally state it.
Nassib also clarified that his decision to make such a statement during Pride Month was not an act of paying attention to his personality. He also said he was going to donate 100,000 dollars to an organization called the Trevor Project. This American non-profit organization is aimed at suicide prevention and other support to teenagers of the LGBTQ+ community.
