Patek Philippe’s Ref 2499 Was Purchased for the World-Record Amount of $7.56 Million

Patek Philippe’s watch made in rose gold was purchased for a world-record price. The model Ref 2499 was bought for an overwhelming amount of 7.56 million dollars.

The auction titled The Nevadian Collector was held by Sotheby’s and took place in Hong Kong. The selling was the part of a single-owner collection that numbered 38 vintage watches.

Created in 1957, the 37.5mm watch was one of four examples in the sale.

The same model was considered the most expensive in 2007 when it was sold during an auction in Geneva. In 2018, they were beaten by the model made in yellow gold also being purchased in Geneva for 4 million dollars.

The collection also featured Ref. 1518 made in pink gold which is the prototype of Ref. 2499. Created in 1948, the model was bought for 2.9 million dollars.

They say that the full collection once numbered 400 watches designed by the company.
