Louis Vuitton has opened the second freestanding store for men in the Design District. The store is crowded with Abloh’s fall 2021 collection- sneakers, backpacks, coats, pants, and more. There are three products restricted to the location- a chain-link choker with an LV monogram; a skateboard with a graffiti logo motif, and the Tatic sneaker`s prelaunch. Abloh was very engaged in the design of the two-story storehouse.
Also, the Louis Vuitton men`s collection was shown tonight in Miami – the last one designed by Virgil Abloh for the fashion house. The designer died of heart cancer on November 28. Louis Vuitton was the first to announce this tragic news on their social networks, and the very next day they announced that they would hold a tribute show dedicated to the designer.
The collection that was shown in Miami today can be called a brief summary of the head of the designer in the fashion house. It literally summarizes all the designer`s favorite tricks: monochrome pantsuits with interesting tailoring, statement accessories with an expressive LV monogram, hats as an important part of the image, and a touch of streetwear that Virgil continued to add to his collection even after his own announcement that the streetwear was dead.
All the designer’s friends gathered to honor Abloh`s memory and see his latest collection: Bella Hadid (wearing Off-White x Nike sneakers, on which Virgil once wrote “Virgil was here” with an orange marker), Kim Kardashian and Kanye-West (in the second Abloh`s collections for Louis Vuitton, fall-winter 2019) and many-many others. Even before the big show on the brand`s social networks appeared a video, in which a little boy throws his little bike and runs to a big red balloon, not afraid of anything, going towards his cherished dream. And at the end of the show, this balloon was launched into the sky accompanied by a live performance of a good friend of Virgil Abloh, Erica Badu. It was just impossible to hold back the tears.
